ANNOUNCER:  Welcome to the More Photos Photography Spotlight brought to you by Morephotos.com helping professional photographers with all their internet needs. Now heres your, John Bentley.  JOHN:  Welcome to the More Photos Photography Spotlight. Today we have, Terree Yeagle of The Moment Photography out of Quakertown, Pennsylvania. Welcome to the program, Terri. TERREE: Thank you, John. Happy to be here.

JOHN: Now, Terri, obviously youre a photographer; this is your own business?

TERREE: Yes it is.
JOHN: Great now how long have you been in business?

TERREE: Ive had a studio at this location; its a commercial location in our town on Main and Broad Street for going into the tenth year here and prior to that I began the business and worked for several years in my home.

JOHN: Great. So obviously you do in studio work and youll do on location photography, correct?

TERREE: Exactly. With the in studio, because Im located in a little town area, we go outside as well. We take advantage of the natural light, and I have a courtyard and some neat alleys and some local landmarks that are just crossing the street, walking distance and we can just get all kinds of backgrounds from nature to architecture to studio all in one session. So its a great spot; it lets me take advantage of a lot.

JOHN: Great. It looks like the wedding industry is a big part of what you do, isnt it?

TERREE: Weddings are, yes absolutely.

JOHN: Now when you do a wedding do you take an assistant with you? Is there more than one photographer? How do you approach a wedding like that?

TERREE: Its myself and another photographer. Its actually my daughter. She has been working with me for 6 years, and just last year she became the second shooter, and we just cover every aspect of the wedding and we do it quietly and unobtrusively.

JOHN: Ok. In this line of photography, its kind of like a sporting event; a wedding is, isnt it? Its pretty much a one time opportunity to shoot something. So how do you handle that as a photographer?

TERREE: Well Ive been doing it for quite a while so I feel confident when I go into a location. I know most of the areas. Just once in a while, I get to somewhere I havent been before. But in knowing the areas, knowing my equipment, and knowing how to cover a wedding and back-up everything, I get onboard with tremendous amount of confidence, and I feel like anything that does go wrong, I pretty much either already experienced it or I have some way to combat that. So even though its stressful and it moves quickly, we have a really nice work flow, and were able to just get amazing results.

JOHN: Do you do a package thing like engagement as a preliminary to the wedding?

TERREE: We absolutely offer engagement photos. I talk about them as relationship sessions, because I like to do more than just the couple together looking at the camera. I really like to capture the relationship whether its in studio or outdoors and interacting with one another and just being themselves. I find that when they are comfortable with me and theyre being themselves, we get great photographs that way. So relationship sessions for sure, and then this past year, I started to get into like couples boudoir sessions where weve rented hotel rooms or bed and breakfasts and just take advantage of an intimate setting and very tastefully, but sensually photograph the couple together and we get some amazing results that way to. So thats a lot of fun.

JOHN: I can imagine it is. Now obviously with the studio, youre doing a lot of portrait sessions. Lets talk a little bit about senior portraits. That should be coming up soon? When is the time when you seem to do the bulk of your senior portraits?

TERREE: We usually start out in April with a couple ambassadors from local schools, and we photograph them, and they help us get the word into their individual areas, schools, their jobs, and their friends the kind of work that we do. And then by summer time, June, July, August and even September, thats our biggest time to be photographing the seniors and it works out really nicely with the ambassador kids, because they get out there with the internet now, the social networking, Facebook and they really just help bring a whole new base of kids to it so its wonderful.

JOHN: Now what about the senior portraits do you find to be the most fun I guess?

TERREE: Well I think that young people have strong personalities, and I like the challenge of really capturing someones spirit; someones individual style and seniors you can do that because theyre involved in activities and they bring those activities to the portrait session whether they are musicians or sports people or theyre stylistic dressers or whatever. So they bring elements of themselves here and again I get them really comfortable, we play some great music and just get themselves to emerge and we document that. And with that and as I said before going outside as well we are able to give them a lot of variety and it just makes it fun and interesting for a photography standpoint as well.

JOHN: What about the fashion element of this kind of thing?

TERREE: Love the fashion. Love it.   And Im totally inspired by the magazines. I just cant get enough of the Vogue fashion shoots and W and Vanity Fair. Im on the internet all the time just watching what the photographers there are doing with the celebrities and the models, and I try and take just little elements of that and bring it into Main Street, U.S.A. here for these 18 year old kids and they love it. The girls just go crazy. They come in here often times a little bit nervous and then by midway through a session, they are having a great time and when were finished they dont want to leave.

JOHN: Now we are in the studio with Terree Yeagle of The Moment Photography of Quakertown, Pennsylvania. Terree would you give your website and contact information real quick for us.

JOHN:  Welcome back to the More Photos Radio Photography Spotlight.  We're in the studio today with Terree Yeagle of The Moment Photography of Quakertown, Pennsylvania.  Welcome back to the program, Jim.  TERREE:  Thank you.

JOHN:  Now, weve been talking about the different types of photography that you do. Lets briefly touch on some of the other types that you do. Obviously, with the portrait industry families are going to be there. How is it working with families especially with young children?

TERREE: Families are great fun. The kids are most of the time always on the move and thats I think what people like most about the style of the family photography that I do is I zoom in on just little sections of whats happening and sometimes parents are like oh my gosh the kids were not cooperative, they didnt smile, whatever, and the whole time Im seeing great stuff and just trying to get them to relax and go with it and they are usually very surprised at what the lens, you know, what we are able to capture, because they are seeing this whole camera room thats party chaos, but we get great stuff, because I like motion.

JOHN: Now families and children, and obviously, the pre-requisite to families and children would be maternity. What are your thoughts on maternity photography?

TERREE: This is a time that I think is just really beautiful and special in a womans life and I like to take these photographs as artfully as I can, and I usually discuss with a woman client if she has any ideas or thoughts, and if not, I try to give her ideas and I use color and I use fabric and just try and bring out the beauty of the woman and then focus different times on her belly, and were able to just get some very moving photographs that women look back on and treasure and are really thankful that they took the time to go ahead and do that.

JOHN: Great. What about some of the other family members. Id be talking about pets here. Do you ever do pet photography?

TERREE: We do do pet photography and weve had some wonderful animals. We go onto peoples farms and photograph their horses all different times of the day; them on their horses riding or just the horses out in the pasture running. That seems to be a very popular and enjoyable type of photography going out onto the farm. And then weve had loads of people come into the studio with their dogs.  Varieties of dogs, multiple dogs all at one time and its a blast. I really enjoy doing that, and its important to people. Most people with their pets, they are like their children. So getting a great portrait of that warms their heart.

JOHN: What about corporate? Is corporate a part of your business as well?

TERREE: It is. I do professional head shots for business people and even for actors and models and its important to when youre facing the world and you have your photo on a website to look your best and look confident and professional photography does that. So that is another market I strongly try and delve into.

JOHN: Now lets talk a little bit about some of the cities and communities in the surrounding area that you service.

TERREE: Ok. Way down the road from is a new venue called The Lake House and its pretty exclusive. The caterer there is one of the top caterers in the whole Philadelphia region and its a beautiful facility. What they did to enhance the Lake House and the area around it just makes for beautiful wedding photography. So thats a blast going there each and every time. We try to make it different but take advantage of the natural elements around the lake and then the architecture of the building as well. Another one of my favorites is the Hotel Bethlehem and thats located in downtown Bethlehem and when we do weddings there we can go out; we can do these great street scenes. Its a charming, charming town with great lamp posts and just doorways and all sorts of things that are wonderful elements to include in wedding photography.

JOHN: Now if somebody from the other end of the state is interested in having you do work for them, will you travel?

TERREE: I do travel. Yeah. Its no problem. If somebody is willing to pay me to go, Im happy to do it.

JOHN: Great. What do you think as a wedding photographer, obviously there are important elements of photography, what do you feel is the most important thing that you want to give to your customers?

TERREE: Well, I think, without a doubt its passion. Each photographer has their own set of eyes that see differently. I do like what I see and I feel strongly about it each and every time I push down the button to take a photograph Im doing it because its meaningful. I want people when their viewing their images to really get some sort of a strong emotion from it whether its just laughter or pure joy or love, and I am putting everything that I have as a human being into my career here and into my job as a photographer and I strive to make that come out in the images. I think it definitely happens, I mean, one of the things that I hear all the time are studios located on the corner and its got big windows on each street, on Main and on Broad and so many people find us from just driving by. You know the old expression if I had a nickel for every time somebody told me. People say all the time, Oh I stop and I see whats in your windows and I love it. I almost had an accident. I hear this stuff every day. So I know that what Im doing is definitely pleasing people and that people are noticing the difference in the passion and thats just a great feeling.

JOHN: Well they now know where they can find you streetwise. Where can they find you on the internet?

TERREE: You can visit us at www.themomentphoto.com.
JOHN: Ok, what about a phone number?

TERREE: (215) 538-9430.
